Congratulations! You have been working extremely hard in your ballet classes and your teacher has approved you for your first pair of pointe shoes. We have created this guide to help you prepare for you first fitting.

First, make sure you have your teacher’s approval. It is important that you are strong enough for pointe shoes. It is easy to get injured if you are put on pointe before you are ready.

Second, contact us to make an appointment! In order to get the best fit we give you a 30 minute time slot with one of our trained pointe fitters. If you show up without an appointment there is not a guarantee one of our pointe fitters will be available to fit. During your fitting we will talk through everything you need to know about your pointe shoes.

Third, please make sure your toenails are trimmed and feet are cleaned. You will be putting a lot of pressure on your toes and pressure on long toenails will lead to bruised nail beds. You will be trying on many different shoes taking on and off shoes.

Fourth, bring camera to capture the moment of your first time en pointe. At Mark’s Dancewear we are all about creating memories and experiences that will last a lifetime.

Finally, remember to bring a smile 😊

We can’t wait to meet you and fit you in your first pair of pointe shoes. Pointe shoes are a process and we are here to walk you through every step.
